Meet your coach
If we haven't met- Hi, I'm Bernard 👋

Hello! I started playing chess at the age of five with one goal - to beat my dad. I played competitively when I was seven, but it was only after I had my first coach at 15 that I started winning tournaments at the national and international levels. Some of my achievements include:
-
National Under-20 Junior Champion
-
British Universities Chess Games Silver Medalist
-
Chess.com peak rating of 2485
I started teaching chess in 2020 while completing my second year of law at Leeds University. When I graduated, I decided to continue teaching chess full-time because I find it very rewarding to see people progress, and teaching has always come naturally to me. But don't take my word for it; here is what past students have to say!
Have a chess coach who genuinely cares about your progress.

Improvement with a proven track record

Oh and I work with complete beginners too
Robert Ball was (almost) a complete beginner before he took lessons. His initial rating was below 500 and in 5 months, he achieved his goal of crossing 1000!

Dylan had a rating of about 400 when we first started in October 2022. Fast forward to July 2024, he has gained over 1000 rating points!
